Discovery Reads started with a simple frustration: most "surprise" book boxes aren't really surprises at all. You open them expecting something new, and instead you get whatever's popular that month — books you've probably already read, or ones that were never really picked for you in the first place.
We wanted to build something different.
Every Discovery Reads box starts with you. Tell us what you love — your favorite authors, the genres you can't put down, what you're in the mood for right now — and we take it from there. No algorithms guessing at you from a distance, no generic bestseller lists. Just real curation, matched to real taste, with the goal of introducing you to your next favorite book, whether it's a hidden gem you've never heard of or a title that feels like it was picked exactly for you — because it was.
Reading has always felt personal to us, and we wanted the impact of this business to feel personal too. That's why every box includes a donation toward planting a tree — a small way of giving back with every subscription, alongside the book you're getting to enjoy.
We're just getting started, and we're building this the right way: carefully, book by book, box by box. Every title in your box has been chosen with care, not pulled at random to fill a shelf.
